NHSSN History

1992 – North Las Vegas Housing Services Inc. was created through an initiative by the City of North Las Vegas and Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation (now known as NeighborWorks America).

2000 – NHS formally changed its name to Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada, Inc. (NHSSN) and expanded its service boundaries to include North Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Henderson and all of Clark County.

2007 – NHSSN merged with Golden Rule, another non-profit agency, and acquired Parsons Place, which provides transitional housing to the near homeless.

2007 – NHSSN celebrated its 15th anniversary. Throughout those 15 years, NHSSN has leveraged and invested over Sixty-One Million ($61,000,000.00) in community reinvestment, homeownership initiatives and has assisted thousands of individuals and families with their housing needs, including the achievement of the American dream, homeownership.

2008 – NHSSN began assisting the community in foreclosure counseling. This line of business open doors for the community for free in educating and reviewing loan documents, while working with the lenders in order to save client(s) homes. NHSSN also continued to work with the City of North Las Vegas in bridging the gap for closing cost and down payment utilizing CNLV HOME Funds. NHSSN took part in placing over 65 families into homes and making the dream of homeownership a reality.

2009 – NHSSN continues to work closely with the federal government. NHSSN continued to provide Homebuyer education classes to include working with the CNLV in administering HOME Funds and placing 58 families into homes. NHSSN also continued to advocate on clients behalf by assisting the community in foreclosure counseling.

2010 – NHSSN collaborated with Clark County and began to assist clients in receiving funds under the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. NHSSN also partnered with Nevada State Bank and First Home Loan Bank of San Francisco in administering WISH Funds (Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeowners). This program allowed for the clients to purchase anywhere in Southern Nevada. NHSSN continued to provide Foreclosure counseling and was also awarded additional funding for HOME Funds for the City of North Las Vegas.

2011-Current – NHSSN continued the partnership with Clark County and City of North Las Vegas in order to bridge the gap for closing cost and down payment. While partnering with Clark County NSP funds NHSSN partnered with Nevada Hand and placed a total of 7 families to date under the Acquisition Rehab Resale for NSP Funds. NHSSN also partnered with CITI in providing additional funding under the WISH and IDEA programs. NHSSN continued the partnership with Nevada State Bank and to date has placed over 11 families in Southern Nevada. This doesn’t include the mission of assisting clients who face foreclosure. To date NHSSN has assisted a total of 139 families in keeping their homes.
